We’re on the lookout for an experienced Process Engineer to be responsible for reviewing the effectiveness and efficiency of Pulp an Paper production processes within an integrated operation. Design process improvements to ensure safe and sustainable processes and products, higher production, less waste and improved consistency of quality standards for specific product lines.
This role reports into the Snr Process Engineer.
As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Process documentation, analysis and optimization.
- Create and maintain updated P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams, Mass/Energy Balances and Functional Design Specifications.
- Update and communicate product specifications and operational procedures to plant personnel.
- Coach process technicians and engineers-in-training
- Reviewing start-up, shut-down, and best operating practices.
Process Optimization
- Analyze process audit results monthly to identify improvement opportunities.
- Conduct root cause analyses, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Develop high-level and detailed process designs, ensuring compliance with engineering, safety and environmental standards.
- Lead design reviews, collaborate with engineering peers, and validate mass/energy balances.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Ensure designs meet environmental standards and lead SWIFT/HAZOP risk studies.
- Review process controls for effectiveness and accuracy, focusing on long-term strategies.
Process Change Management
- Collaborate with production teams to test and update process designs based on simulations.
- Assess impact of process changes, support training needs, and oversee commissioning of new processes.
- Track and measure outcomes to confirm efficiency improvements.
What are we looking for:
- BEng/BSc or BTech in Chemical Engineering.
- 3 - 5 Years process experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Pulp and Paper experience is advantageous.
