Introduction
To build and maintain the JSE as a trusted provider of pricing solutions, which includes indices, benchmarks, instrument valuations and other quantitative financial metrics, and so promote the integrity of the JSE markets and contribute to the strategic priorities of the JSE and specifically the monetisation of quantitative data services.
Responsibilities
Business and Financial Results Management - Support the stable functioning of markets by calculating and publishing accurate instrument valuations and indices in line with valuations principles and client service level agreements.
- Minimise the risk of financial and reputational damages to the JSE through the publication of incorrect valuations and associated incorrect cashflows between clients.
- Develop valuations methodologies for JSE products and client products using thought leadership and deep industry experience to ensure compliance with the necessary regulatory standards and industry best practice.
- Develop indices product range (including methodologies) using thought leadership and deep industry experience to ensure compliance with the necessary regulatory standards and industry best practice.
- Support the JSE inorganic strategy by championing opportunities aligned to pricing and other quantitative opportunities.
- Act as the technical partner and system owner for the delivery of quantitative finance products and services.
Stakeholder Relationship Management - Build and maintain a consultative relationship with advisory committees by providing high quality discussion papers.
- Represent the interests of the JSE on various industry bodies as a recognised expert in the field of indices, valuations and quantitative mathematics.
- Build and maintain sustainable relationships with customers and stakeholders through continuous engagement.
- Manage the resolution of queries from clients regarding technical education and other second line support.
Process Management - Provide thought leadership and input into the development of Information Services divisional strategy.
- Deliver innovative product ideas to JSE by identifying patterns in data processing results and client interactions.
- Ensure that Enterprise Information Governance processes are implemented and formally managed.
Team Management - Ensure that the team has the specialist and technical skills and capabilities required to deliver the business objectives.
- Ensure ongoing improvement of automation and processes by coaching direct reports.
- Participate in recruitment processes to ensure selection contributing to success of team.
Minimum Requirements
- Honours in Economics/Statistics/Econometrics/Actuarial Science/Financial Engineering or similar.
- 10 years of experience in a financial markets' role such as derivatives valuations, investment portfolio management, investment performance measurement, asset manager, investment research analyst, listed product issuer, product owner, fund administrator, including experience in managing a team of index and valuations specialists/experts.
