Strategic Maintenance Manager Position - West Rand - Tarlton
The Strategic Maintenance Manager will be responsible for developing and managing budgets, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Workshop whilst playing a key role in developing and implementing long-term strategies. The Strategic Maintenance Manager will be expected to review the Workshop workflows and determine strengths, weaknesses, operational effectiveness and opportunities, eventually making recommendations based on internal and external factors to minimize risks and formulate plans to achieve an organization's long-term goals. This role will also be responsible for developing and managing relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervisory Capabilities
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations in the Workshop.
- Translating strategy into operations.
- Drafting and implementing performance standards for the whole Workshop department.
- Creating processes for the smooth and efficient running of the Workshop department.
Responsibilities
- Aligning departmental goals, processes and resource allocation with the organizational strategy.
- Assessing supply chain vulnerabilities and making recommendations for improvement.
- Conducting analyses of operations data and making recommendations for improvement based on findings.
- Conducting research and analyses of operational effectiveness, processes, stakeholders, etc.
- Creating and implementing operational plans for an organization’s activities, including making decisions about locations, budgets, staffing levels, and timelines.
- Develop and manage budgets for operational activity.
- Develop and oversee operational processes and procedures to ensure they are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
- Evaluate current processes and make recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Evaluating current operational procedures, identifying inefficiencies and making recommendations for improvement.
- Evaluating employee performance and providing feedback to help employees.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
- Implement new technologies and systems to streamline operations.
- Lead analytical efforts supporting our business teams in an unstructured environment to identify insights and improve decision-making.
- Manage and motivate a team of operations staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Monitor KPIs and develop metrics to assess performance and identify areas of improvement.
- Monitoring and reporting on projects.
- Participating in strategic planning sessions with other members of management to discuss long-range goals and objectives.
- Planning and implementing strategies for controlling costs, reducing risk exposure, improving efficiency, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Prepare reports and presentations on operational activity for executive management.
- Presenting findings, projections and recommended actions.
- Research and stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
- Reviewing reports on supply chain activities to ensure that they meet company standards.
- Supporting and guiding senior executive decision-making process.
- Supporting the development of long-term organizational strategy.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements:
- Advanced Excel skills (can maintain complex spreadsheets); SQL knowledge is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience answering unstructured business questions and work independently to drive projects and analytical tasks to conclusion.
- Expert communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience
- 5+ years of experience using data analytics to solve complex business problems.
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of developing and executing operational strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Project Management, Development Studies or in related field or equivalent experience.
