The Management Accountant is responsible for the management accounting function in Hollard Health. This includes inter alia, planning, budgets, and forecasts, interpreting financial results, monitoring cash flow, capital expenditure programmes, management reporting systems development, special investigations/reports, operating efficiency studies, feasibility studies and investment portfolios. The Management Accountant is also responsible for the preparation of management information and its interpretation. Moreover, the Management Accountant may provide financial guidance, planning, and advice to management, with the aim of making their business more profitable.
Key Responsibilities
Monthly posting to the General ledger.
Preparation and consolidation of monthly accounting journals and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the completeness of accounting entries in line with IFRS accounting standards and company accounting policies.
Prepare management accounts, making sure that they are valid and accurate.
Prepares commission schedules monthly and pays them out on quarterly basis.
Prepare the PTY Accounts and logs them into the system.
Order preparations, prepare all financials before Audit time, available for Audit queries.
Analyze claims data from Henner and Cigna and report to in-country partner to ensure that they get payment and therefore balancing financial statements accordingly.
Reports on claims to in-country partners and reinsurer.
Analyze bank accounts, ensure that premiums are allocated correctly.
Analyzing and reporting on partner profitability, trends, and specific balance sheet items, monitoring, and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends.
Creation, implementation and improvement of financial and credit controls monthly revenue, profitability, trend, and balance sheet reporting.
Facilitates the budget process and analyzes budget against budgeted expenses, against forecast and reporting monthly to EXCO.
Assist in the development of the automated bordereau for each in-country partner.
Conduct debtors’ analysis monthly to determine what has been written-off and provide a report to the General Manager: Finance.
Implement/Measure relevant reporting KPI’s to measure performance against strategic objectives.
Monthly preparation of EVR reports.
Ensuring compliance with accounting practice applicable to insurers, good governance, and risk management practice, as well as laws and regulations.
Continuous improvement of accounting and reporting processes in line with overall business objectives and needs.
Manage the Finance Mailbox by distributing work to the team, ensuring that it is up to date, and urgent matters are attended to.
Deals with queries on commission from in-country brokers and CFOs and provides general support.
Resolve queries from Finance, supervise and initiate meetings with brokers.
Extensive training done on Finance Administrators.
Providing Finance Administrators with guidance and support of best practice standards.
Assistance with ad-hoc projects as and when needed.
