Job Description
AECOM South Africa is looking for a Bridge Technologist to contribute to the delivery of diverse local and international bridge projects. Key responsibilities would be the design of civil infrastructure, the 3D modelling of bridges and the preparation of bridge drawings.
Job Summary:
- 3D Revit modelling of bridges and culverts based on Civil 3D geometric road models
- Preparation and management of construction drawings for bridges, culverts and other road related structures
- Preparation and management of reinforcement detailing and bending schedules
- Preparation and management of project specifications and bills of quantities
- Inspection of bridges and culverts in accordance with TMH19
- Liaison with clients and authorities
- Applying the AECOM Quality Management System (QMS) in all work.
- Design and planning of new bridges, culverts, and other road and rail structures in accordance with TMH7 and other relevant codes will be a benefit
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design and drawing of bridges, culverts and other road related structures
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, Revit, Sofistik Bridge Modeler, Open Roads Open Bridge, or CADS RC will be a benefit
- Good knowledge of the SANRAL and Western Cape Government drawing procedures will be a benefit
- Proficiency in SOFiSTiK, Midas, Prokon will be a benefit
- Experience in structural steel detailing and or reinforcement detailing will be a benefit
- Knowledge of international bridge regulations and standards bridge design codes (AASHTO, AREMA, etc.) will be a benefit
Personal Attributes:
- Ability to plan and execute work independently
- Dedicated to deliver correct and accurate work
- Good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BTech in Civil Engineering
- High Revit competency and specialist 3D modelling of bridges
- Professional Registration will be a benefit
- Accreditation as a Bridge/Culvert Inspector will be a benefit
