Northeast Regional Facilitator for ScotlandWhat is The Scottish Assembly?The Assembly is a growing group of people with a learning disability and autistic people from all over Scotland who want to have more say in decisions that affect them locally and nationally.People are part of the The Assembly as individuals and not to represent other organisations that they are part of.Our goal is to become the world’s first Parliament where people with a learning disability and autistic people can influence and vote on things that affect them as equal citizens.The Scottish Assembly meets every Friday morning on Zoom and Regional Assemblies meet every Friday to support people to attend the National meeting as well as every 3-4 weeks in their regional areas.Our focus is to find, include, inform and support more people with a learning disability and autistic people all over Scotland to have a voice and be involved in decision making.We currently have a Northeast Regional Lead supporting our existing members in the Northeast of Scotland.Northeast includes members from the north of Scotland (Nairn) down to Central Scotland (Perth).Our Regional Lead lives in Dundee. He has a learning disability.We are now looking for someone in the Northeast to support our Lead to do his job as best as he can. The successful person will be called theNortheast Regional Facilitator.Ideally, applicants will either live in or around the Dundee area or within travelling distance and be a Driver or comfortable using public transport.We are looking for the right person to work with our Northeast Regional Lead.The Scottish Assembly Regional TeamsAs a Regional Facilitator, the most important thing will be to build a good and effective working relationship with the Regional Lead.Your job will be to support the Regional Lead to:• Find and support more people with a learning disability and autistic people to take part in regional and national meetings, workshops and consultations.• Listen to what these people have to say about things that are important to them and help them to share these things with others.• Keep regional members informed about things that might be important and of interest to them both locally and nationally in ways that are accessible to them.• Build strong working relationships with decision makers, organisations, groups and agencies in your region.• Use technology to connect with people through emails, Zoom, Teams, Facebook, Facetime, Messenger, Skype and WhatsApp.• Plan, organise and facilitate regional Assembly meetings and workshops and produce easy read minutes and information.• Make sure that everyone gets a chance to have their say at times and in ways that suit them.• Manage boundaries and take control when when people argue, interrupt or are disrespectful to others.• Represent The Assembly at other meetings and events.You will also be expected to work closely with the other regional teams, the Programme Manager and our colleagues at Values Into Action Scotland.Northeast Regional Facilitator Work ArrangementsThis post is for 16 hours per week. These hours will need to be done on days and times that suit both the Facilitator and the Lead and occasionally, the wider Assembly Team.The working week will be Monday to Friday from 9-5pm, but there may be times when you are required to do evening or weekend work.The post will offer opportunities to work as a team from home, at our Dundee office and in the wider northeast region.Regional Teams report to the Senior Facilitator and the Programme Manager.Northeast Regional Facilitator Terms of EmploymentThe hourly rate for a Facilitator is £14.05.This job will be for 1 year to start, with a 3-month probation period.Continued employment will be subject to continued funding.For a 16-hour work week, you will be able to take 90 hours of Annual Leave / Holiday. This includes public and bank holidaysThe Assembly (as part of Values Into Action Scotland) is part of the NEST pension scheme. You can choose to pay up to 6% of your salary into a pension.
