About Our Client
Michael Page Finance are delighted to be partnering with Breedon Group Plc, a leading FTSE 250 construction materials company operating across Great Britain, Ireland, and now the United States, with a workforce of approximately 4,500. Known for its ambitious and successful growth strategy, Breedon operates two major cement plants and a vast network of quarries, asphalt facilities, and ready-mixed concrete plants. Its diverse operations also span slate production, concrete and clay product manufacturing, contract surfacing, and highway maintenance.
The role offers an exciting opportunity to work as a key member of the Group Finance Team in a dynamic and growing business. Over recent years Breedon has made significant acquisitions including a £178 million purchase of Cemex assets in 2020, the £455 million Lagan Group acquisition in 2018, and a £336 million deal for Hope Construction Products in 2016. Most recently, in March 2024, Breedon made its first move into the U.S. market by acquiring BMC Enterprises Inc. for USD $300 million, further solidifying its status as a major player in the construction materials industry. The business continues to look for acquisition opportunities, especially in North America.
Job Description
Lead on preparation of the Group Annual Report and Interim Financial Report.
Lead on areas of technical accounting impacting the group, including any projects in relation to new financial standards.
Co-ordination and management of the external audit process.
Leading on the fair value process for acquisitions, along with support during the integration process.
Acting as a partner within the group finance team to one of the groups operational divisions, responsible for reviewing monthly reporting and working with the business to ensure that the group reporting requirements are met to a high standard.
Lead subsidiary accounts process.
Use and development of IBM Cognos financial consolidation and reporting tool.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in financial expertise, demonstrated by a successful track record within a Big Four audit environment. In addition, they will have recent, hands-on experience working within the group finance function of a complex - ideally listed - company. This background should include a strong understanding of complex financial reporting, consolidation processes, and compliance with regulatory standards for listed businesses.
