Responsibilities:
- Legal
- Review and provide legal advice on ongoing cases and advise management accordingly.
- Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.
- Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management, especially on contract management.
- Provide and interpret legal information.
- Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
- Review and draft contracts, agreements, and internal policies and ensure compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
- Review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
- Regulatory compliance
- Formulate compliance check-lists to ensure company policies, procedures, and processes are correctly managed and governed.
- Ensure system integrity regarding master data.
- Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly.
- Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously.
- Revise procedures, reports, etc., periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
- Draft, modify, and implement company policies.
- Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks.
- Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
- Prepare weekly reports for executive management meetings.
- Review all contracts or any other documentation where the Company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the executive management’s attention.
- Prepare, review, and modify contractual instruments to assist and support various business activities.

Ability to commute/relocate: Cape Town, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Experience: Legal Drafting: 3 years (Required)
