As a Clinical Pathologist:
The majority of your duties involve, but are not limited to, providing clients with diagnostic evaluation in the area of clinical pathology and necessary follow-up consultation. A high level of importance is placed on quality, timeliness, customer service, and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
In This Role:
You are responsible for:
- Gross and/or microscopic examination of clinical pathology specimens and preparation of pathology reports in a timely manner.
- Meeting caseload and turnaround expectations.
- Providing telephone and email consultations to clients.
- Consulting with and assisting other pathologists as needed to promote collegiality.
- Partnering with, advising, and assisting laboratory personnel in proper specimen processing techniques and functioning as the pathologist on duty.
- Promoting the growth of IDEXX by actively participating in pathologist meetings and developing and maintaining professional relationships/contact with clients.
- Participating in quality control programs.
- Maintaining proficiency and developing diagnostic skills through regular continuing education.
- Engaging in other professional activities as approved by management that improve the function or professional reputation of IDEXX.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
You are a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent. Pathology Board Certified - American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP) preferred. MMedVet(CLD) also considered. Applications from board-eligible pathologists are also encouraged. The candidate will be supported when studying for boards. You are fluent in English, familiar with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine, able to type and use dictation equipment, have excellent verbal and communication skills, possess a service-oriented attitude, able to organize and prioritize work, and have required computer skills. Experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory is preferred. You are located in South Africa.
