Job & Company Description:
Our client is a diversified Commercial Property development and Construction company.
They are recruiting a Senior Financial Accountant who will join the dynamic accounting team and report to the Chief Financial Officer.
Key deliverables:
- Prepare the management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations with accuracy and in compliance with IFRS.
- Preparation of lease smoothing calculations when a new tenant is signed on.
- In depth analysis of the general ledger for correct processing and support for all special journal entries.
- Posting month end management account journals (depreciation, accruals, lease smoothing, interest on bonds and equipment finance etc.)
- Perform analytical review of all balance sheets and income statements.
- Preparation of the property group monthly consolidated management accounts.
- Analysis of the KPI reports to ensure that all property expenses have been recovered in accordance with the governing lease agreements.
- Review and ensure that property payments, ie. Rentals, bonds, security, utilities are timeously and accurately made & reconciled to current statement of accounts.
- Review of the bond reconciliations before payments against the amortisation and bond statements ensuring that interest rate changes are correctly factored in.
- Review and ensure that all construction creditor payments are in accordance with the payment certifications and approved purchase orders.
- Preparation and balancing of the group loan matrix & intercompany debtor and creditor matrix.
- Maintenance of Property Asset Register.
- Preparation of control account, input & output VAT reconciliations together with the monthly VAT 201 submissions.
- Accurate preparation of provisional and income tax computations in accordance with the relevant tax laws.
- Liaise with SARS, draft objections to SARS regarding audits and disputes on income tax and VAT.
- Preparation of the year-end pack for the annual audits.
- Liaising with the auditors.
- Ability to prepare and draft financials on CaseWare ensuring compliance with relevant accounting policies and IFRS.
Tertiary Qualification:
BCom Honours in Accounting, with majors in Accounting, Taxation combined with SAIPA or SAICA articles.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Minimum of 4 to 5 years of work experience post articles.
- Property and construction industry related experience is a must.
- Experience working on the financial accounts of multiple companies in a group structure.
- Up to date theoretical and working knowledge of IFRS, IFRS for SMEs and South African income tax and VAT.
- Ability to prepare financials in CaseWare from a trial balance.
- Analytical mindset.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Deadline Driven.
- Must work well independently and within a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
