Information Technology Specialist for Resilient Cities Limpopo Program
The USAID-funded Resilient Cities Limpopo Program, implemented by Tetra Tech ARD, is currently accepting expressions of interest for an Information Technology Specialist. This position will be in the main office in Pretoria, South Africa.
Position Description: The program aims to increase urban residents' access to safe and reliable water, sanitation, and solid waste services in the Limpopo River Basin region of Southern Africa, including parts of Botswana, Mozambique, and South Africa. Tetra Tech will partner with local governments and other stakeholders to strengthen municipal governance, enhance public service delivery, and develop sustainable, climate-resilient solutions.
Working under the direction of the DCOP-Ops and in direct coordination with the US IT Team, the Information Technology Specialist will provide both onsite and remote IT support for USAID Resilient Cities Limpopo program staff supported by the US Tetra Tech Home Office Team.
Responsibilities:
- Configure all project-funded computers in compliance with Home Office IT standards, prepare project computers with Windows Configuration Designer (WCD) package, joining computers to Azure AD for remote management.
- Setup and configure project procured computers based on Tetra Tech user account furnished by HO IT.
- Configure individual O365 Outlook clients per user account. Egnyte as well as desktop application per user, ensure Z:/drive is mapped.
- Install software upgrades/patches, service packs, and other updates (Dell Command Update & Windows Updates).
- Attend to printers and peripheral configuration and maintenance needs.
- Configure project-issued smartphones using the Tt corporate standard instructions. The IT Specialist should configure and manage all project-issued smartphones before being distributed to the users.
- Troubleshoot computer and network-related issues on-demand and escalate to the HO IT team as needed.
- Support the HO IT teams in the configuration of all project-funded, internet-enabling networking devices in compliance with Home Office IT standards. Connect network device(s) to Public IP. Coordinate with HO to review wireless coverage within the office space and relocate access points in strategic positions.
- IT Asset Management: Gather and Maintain the IT inventory sheet for IT equipment.
- Assist the Operations Manager in ensuring IT project assets comply with OCIO standards and policies.
- Assist the ARD HO IT Manager in ensuring IT project systems are compliant with the Tetra Tech standards and policies.
- Monitor the project’s IT infrastructure to ensure continuous IT operation. The Field IT Specialist needs to ensure that all IT services are running at any given time. Internet, office network (both wired and wireless), copiers, and computers.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 setup and troubleshooting.
- Excellent knowledge and experience working on Dell laptops (hardware and drivers).
- Advanced knowledge in networking - routers, switches, and wireless access points, Azure, Active Directory, domain control, and user administration, SharePoint and Office 365 features is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of using TeamViewer or similar remote desktop support software.
- Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills. Analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Strong customer-service orientation. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes intense work environment addressing issues within the service level agreement (SLA).
- Any related IT certifications will be a plus.
- Fluency in English (written and oral). Fluency in Portuguese would be beneficial.
- Possession of Driver’s License desirable.
- Current authorization to work in South Africa is required at the time of application.
