Our client requires the services of an Oracle Database Administrator in our IT Infrastructure Department. The Database Administrator is responsible for supporting multiple critical databases, some with high availability demands. This role is responsible for database implementation, performance tuning, ongoing monitoring and maintenance, backup/recovery, security, auditing, production support, migration, and verification of the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage database environments critical to business processing.
- Configure, monitor, and manage database backup, tuning, patching, and disaster recovery architecture and plans.
- Design, support, and maintain high availability environments including replication, clustering, and mirroring.
- Support all areas of the enterprise, ensuring all databases run at optimal performance.
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot database issues, demonstrating good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain results.
- Help establish and enforce database architecture and security standards.
- Ensure that industry-wide best practices and standards are properly implemented.
- Maintain automated application migration processes which provide High Availability and SDLC migration for Test, Pre-Production, and Production application servers.
- Independently develop, maintain, and troubleshoot complex databases.
- Coordinate and help lead disaster recovery testing processes.
- Analyze database performance, capacity, and capacity planning for future database expansion to support business requirements.
- Evaluate, make recommendations, and manage uptake of database environment patching and new versions, working with stakeholders to plan and execute such updates.
- Evaluate, implement, and manage ongoing activities to ensure database health and prevent issues.
Requirements:
- BS degree and 5-8 years of technology application experience, 4 of which involving database administration; or 7+ years administering Oracle and SQL Server database environments in an enterprise setting.
- Experience in Database Administration of complex systems using Oracle 11/12c and MS SQL Server in a Windows server environment.
- Proficiency developing and maintaining complex scripts using SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL and/or Powershell.
- Strong experience with database optimization, performance tuning, backup and restore, table space allocation/management, clustering, managing the overall health and status of the database, managing the VACANCY database schema, creating triggers and stored procedures, and configuring, monitoring, logging, and resolving database-related issues.
- Experience with evaluation, selection, implementation and management of products supporting Disaster Recovery and High Availability architecture.
- Excellent technical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Oracle RAC and/or DataGuard preferred.
- Experience with validation of regulated database environments preferred.
- Experience with administration on Unix/Linux platform a plus.
- Familiarity with web services and RESTful Services (JSON and XML) or Java/.NET a plus.
