3C Metal Belmet is seeking an NDT Inspector to join our team in Bellville, Cape Town. This role includes occasional international travel.
Job Purpose: To perform Internal Surface Non Destructive Testing, maintain NDT equipment and procedures.
Summary of Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills:
- Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) on materials and components per specific codes, procedures, and customer requirements.
- Execute inspections as directed by project or QC managers.
- Review and improve NDT processes to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency; assist in project preparation.
- Interpret test results, provide recommendations, and maintain test documentation and reports.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate testing equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members, support engineers, and continuously develop NDT expertise.
- Manage the QC/NDT equipment store.
Skills:
- Knowledge of best practices in record keeping; effective communication and attention to detail.
Profile
Knowledge:
- Ability to read/interpret technical drawings, procedures, industry specifications & codes.
- General understanding of industry related specifications, e.g. AWS D1.1, ASME IX, AMSE B31.3, API.
- General understanding and familiarity of NDE (MT, PT, RT, UT) methods and reports.
- General understanding and familiarity of fabrication processes, e.g. Welding (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW), cutting, rolling, etc.
Qualifications:
- Matric (required).
- SAIW Level I/II welding inspector (would be advantageous).
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-4 years experience working as an NDT Technician.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an engineering fabrication facility.
- Valid Driver’s licence.
