Job Responsibilities:
- Planting seeds and seedlings for research & commercial purposes.
- Grafting, budding, pruning of trees, harvesting of fruits for seed extraction.
- Collecting/harvesting of graft woods on various crops for research & commercial purposes.
- Irrigation, fertilizer application, weed control, pest and disease control.
- Sampling of plants for evaluation purposes.
- Maintenance of fence and shade nets.
- Utilize tools and materials, under supervision.
- Provide verbal feedback on work activities to supervisor.
- Identify and participate in own learning opportunities.
- Comply with SHE/OHS regulations and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 10 or minimum of 5 years relevant experience in plant propagation.
- Ability to operate farm machinery and general upkeep of the nursery.
- Knowledge of both nursery and laboratory practices.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Good health and physical ability.
- A good knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety experience will also be an added advantage.
