Job Purpose:
- To professionally manage and control the Short Course & Special Projects Unit (SCSPU) of Graduate Centre for Management (GCM) as one of the Short Course Offering Entity (SC0E) of the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences of CPUT in line with the CPUT's SCOE strategy, policy, and procedures.
- To ensure that the different stakeholders within the Institution and external clients that seek the services of GCM's SCOE are compliant to legislation and policy requirements.
- To coordinate and lead a team that manages the delivery of SCSPU's annual programs of 27+ scheduled Short Courses, Portfolio Preparation courses, customised training for the SETAs, National, Provincial and local Governments, State-Owned Enterprises, and the Private Sector.
- To facilitate any of the short courses associated with special projects for clients.
- Ready to travel in and out of Cape Town by road and/or by air.
- To operate during term-time, evenings, weekends, summer, and winter holidays online and/or face-to-face.
- To promote an efficient SCOE service for the University that will result in the increase of the amount of income generated by the University from non-core teaching and research activities and their value for money.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- A relevant postgraduate diploma (or equivalent NQF Level 8) in a business and/or management discipline.
- At least 5 years' experience coordinating and leading multiracial teams.
- At least 3 years' experience overseeing the delivery of specialised and customised skills development and training programmes using a multi-modal approach.
- Evidence of experience in handling skills development and training tenders.
- Evidence of experience in project administration and management.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:
- Coordinating and managing all functions within the Special Projects and Short Course Unit.
- Strategic planning and operationalising of plans.
- Reviewing operational plan and evaluating for efficiency and weaknesses.
- Reporting to HOD of GCM on deliverables in the Unit.
- Performance management of all staff in the Unit.
- Supporting staff to ensure that all possible resources are made available to effect sustainable delivery.
- Writing proposals as and when opportunities arise.
- Prospecting - meeting with prospective clients to create new opportunities for income generation.
- Reporting to clients on projects, monthly, quarterly as required.
- Supporting facilitators with materials development.
- Liaising with QCTO and SETAs seeking approval for online learning and assessment.
- Marketing of assessment centers for income generation.
- Sound pedagogical content knowledge.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Report writing skills.
