Project Developer – South Africa
Leap29 are looking for a motivated and experienced Project Developer to join an industry leading IPP in Cape Town or Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the development and management of renewable energy projects, particularly in large scale Solar PV, wind, battery storage systems (BESS), and microgrid solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of solar, wind, battery storage, and microgrid projects from initial concept through to operational handover.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and financial modeling to evaluate project viability.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and legal, to ensure project milestones are met.
- Secure necessary permits, licenses, and approvals from relevant authorities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including clients, investors, regulators, and local communities.
- Prepare and present project proposals, reports, and presentations to stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, addressing any issues that arise during project development.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to continuously improve project outcomes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project development within the renewable energy sector, with a focus on solar, battery storage, and microgrids.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex renewable energy projects.
- Strong understanding of the technical, financial, and regulatory aspects of renewable energy projects.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Certification: PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
Location:
This role is based in South Africa, with potential travel required to support project development and stakeholder engagement.
