Material Tester (SGSMAC-SL01-2024) (Various Positions)

SGS Matrocast is seeking to fill the position of Material Testers on various sites laboratories in the Western Cape Region.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a person who is reliable, honest and hardworking and is competent in all civil engineering laboratory tests and has an appetite to grow within the industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Supervisor/Laboratory Manager and other laboratory personnel with all tasks.
- Complete materials testing in one laboratory division, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate with bench calculation as and when required for testing.
- Responsible for cleaning the company equipment on a regular basis and ensuring all test equipment is cleaned after completion of any job.
- Clean up the work area where the job was carried out and ensure it is free of all consumables used to perform the job (masking tape, tins).
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Report deviations, irregularities, and non-conformances orally.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
- Ensure that all procedures are followed at all times and report any possible deviations to the direct line manager as soon as possible.
- Complete timesheets accurately on a daily basis.
Qualifications
Proven years of laboratory knowledge, skills, and experience.
Language: Proficiency in English (Read, write, speak).
- Sampling and preparation experience is advantageous.
- Administration experience will be advantageous.
