TECHNICAL COORDINATOR ELECTRIC AND ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS
Job Description:
The organisation is looking for a permanent employee to join her technical office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of electrical, electronic, and PLC systems layout, choice and ordering of materials, and supervising installation.
This post is based at our manufacturing site in Athlone Industria, Cape Town.

The applicant must hold SA citizenship, permanent residency, or another form of accepted work visa.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Regularly reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will have the following tasks:
- Definition of various electric users, electric loads, position of the boards on the yacht, cable runs, electric trunking position.
- Review and assess supplier’s schematics and cable lists.
- Work with various subcontractors, place orders, follow delivery timing, and help in sequencing the work accordingly.
- Develop various CAN bus systems onboard for sailing load monitoring, system controls, and supervise installation.
- Understand the various logic systems and ensure their implementation by subcontractors.
- Assist in commissioning the boat in the water.
- Be in close relation with other Technical Coordinators and assist them in tasks related to your expertise.
- Identify bottlenecks and barriers to achieving deadlines and proactively implement corrective measures.
- Take into account specifications and keep updated on rules and regulations.
CORE COMPETENCIES, ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, and PREFERENCES
Educational:
A tertiary maritime technical qualification (e.g. 2nd engineer) from an accredited institution will be a distinct advantage.
Experience/Technical:
- 10+ years’ experience working in a yacht building environment.
- Recognised yachting qualifications will be an advantage.
- Super yacht working experience of onboard systems is a plus (electrical and electronic PLC system, hydraulics, water makers, air conditioning, refrigeration, etc.).
- Experience of High Voltage DC systems (650VDC) and Diesel electric propulsion is a plus.
