Key Responsibilities
- Strategy – Assist the team in fulfilling the strategy and goals of Lireas while upholding its core business values; Learn how to provide strategic guidance to portfolio companies as required.
- New Business Development - Keep abreast of industry developments and conduct market research into new business opportunities either with existing or potential clients; Approach clients or respond to client inquiries pertaining to new business and/or product offering; Prepare presentations as and when required; Assist in evaluating business plans submitted in application of possible investment or assist with the drafting of business plans wherever required; perform necessary checks associated with regards to due diligence; Assist in various aspects of deal execution.
- Business Management – Learn how to tap into various areas of expertise within Lireas, the Group or external service providers/consultants to assist new and existing portfolio companies with issues pertaining to risk management, HR, compliance, regulatory and legal matters to varying degrees depending on requirements; Ongoing evaluation of the portfolio company’s operational performance; Assist with the review of annual budgets for portfolio companies; Monitor the returns generated by portfolio companies; Support in maintaining client relationships.
- Marketing – Liaise with the multi-media in-house designer regarding updating and enhancing the Lireas website, implementation and use of social media; Assist with Lireas marketing events included but not limited to the annual Lireas Conference; Increase the visibility and perception of the Lireas brand.
- Risk Management – Assist in the analysis and interpretation of financials and cash flow position; Identify, assess and quantify business and financial risks for ongoing discussion at management meetings.
- Valuations - Participate in reviewing valuations of new and existing portfolio companies as and when changes occur (structure, shareholding, capital, assets etc). Understand the current value of the company at a particular point in time.
- Reporting - Assist in performing due diligence on potential clients; Prepare and submit reports on the client’s financial performance and results within the portfolio; Provide commentary as requested to the board in terms of investment’s performance.
- Observer Participation at Board Meetings - Attend board meetings of portfolio companies as an observer; Gain knowledge and experience and eventually assist in supporting and guiding the portfolio companies.
Your Profile
- CA(SA) or CFA qualification
- Minimum 2-5 years’ experience
- 2 years' experience in corporate finance
- Some experience participating in committee or board meetings
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with financials and investments
- Demonstrated experience in report writing and comfortable with different company valuation methodologies
- Experience in a client-facing role dealing with internal and external stakeholders
Preferred
- Investment banking experience; Short term insurance or Insurtech industry experience and/or exposure.
- Knowledge of insurance will be advantageous
- Proficient English communication skills
