The Systems Engineer (SE) in the Integrated Customer Solutions group (ICS) is the lead of the SE team executing our customer projects. The SE is responsible for the Systems Engineering Management of customer contracts to ensure successful delivery of the contracted services and systems, as well as supporting the customer in the installation and acceptance of the system on the customer platform.
The SE is technically responsible and the technical point of contact for the customer project. Through requirements management, the SE must ensure that the customers’ requirements are met with the customized product delivered to the customer. This includes the identification of development and configuration/customization aspects.
Your role
- Lead Systems Engineering process for development and contractual projects within Saab Grintek Defence and ensure a sound system baseline for assigned projects.
- Perform requirements definitions and allocations, functional analysis and system synthesis.
- Plan and manage the relevant technical development process and monitor technical performance.
- Work with the Software Systems Engineer on software planning, software defined interfaces and software functional specifications.
- Work with the System Verifier to manage the system verification and validation process including testing and engineering support to the customer with installation and field testing.
- Lead technical reviews and ensure that the formal system engineering process is followed.
- Participate in Logistic engineering tasks/functions for assigned projects.
- Coordinate and participate in system integration and test activities to achieve system qualification as required for the customer project.
- Ensure that the user requirements are met.
- Ensure that the system is successfully installed on the platform.
- Ensure that the system is accepted both functionally and environmentally.
- Support and agree with customers on integration activities, test baselines, trials and technical requirements.
- Ensure effective external client relations and point of contact for technical issues.
- Ensure effective internal client relations through the provision of inputs/technical assistance where possible.
- Assist Program and Project Managers with inputs into project schedules and SOW.
- Support the Marketing, Product Management, Project Management and In-Service Support Manager.
Your profile
Specialist knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge and relevant previous experience in Systems Engineering Processes and Principles (Systems thinking, life cycles, systems modelling and analysis) and Systems Engineering Management.
- Advanced knowledge on one or more military development processes (e.g. HW, SW, mechanical) and Project Management processes.
- Advanced Professional and Technical competencies (see skills).
Specialist knowledge that may be an advantage:
- Specific experience in the defence EW environment:
- Airborne EW: Radar Warning, Missile Warning, Laser Warning & Countermeasures.
- Naval EW: Radar Warning, Laser Warning, Naval ESM HMI.
- Land Survivability: Laser Warning, Effectors.
Background on design of Self Protection Systems. Background on the application of Self Protection Systems and associated Platforms Interfaces. RF knowledge. Knowledge and experience of Avicom may be advantageous. Knowledge on Model Based Systems Engineering may be advantageous.
Experience:
- Longer than 10 years’ experience in Systems Engineering preferably on executing customer projects.
- More than 5 years’ experience in military system development and/or environment on embedded systems.
- High competence and prior experience with DOORS.
- Generating and compiling of specifications, user manuals and test procedures.
