Job Description:
The incumbent is responsible for leading the conceptualization, design, operationalization, implementation, and management of in-country and multi-country Evaluation and Operations Research projects. This position oversees two Senior Researchers and is based at the m2m Head Office in Cape Town with opportunities to travel.
Key Performance Areas:
- Advance m2m Evaluation and Operational Research (E&OR) Priorities:
- Define E&OR priorities for m2m based on organizational need and strategic planning.
- Work closely with the Senior Data Scientist and others to identify opportunities for Evaluation and Operations Research.
- Liaise with internal & external review committees regarding E&OR study design and implementation.
- Lead the preparation of concept notes, proposals, and RFAs for funding.
- Advise on and lead evaluation of existing and new programmatic activities.
- Provide Technical Support to m2m Programme Teams and External Stakeholders:
- Co-ordinate and oversee m2m Programme Evaluations in all countries.
- Support local stakeholders in co-ordinating evaluations.
- Provide technical support to programme teams on Evaluation and Operations Research.
- Manage and lead the Head Office Evaluation and Operations Research Team:
- Provide leadership in the planning and execution of Evaluation and Operations Research.
- Co-ordination and Oversight of Evaluation and Operations Research Studies:
- Oversee development and implementation of m2m E&OR studies & projects.
- Ensure methodological excellence in study design and data collection.
- Drive the conceptualization, design, and submission of E&OR projects:
- Represent DPTS in interdisciplinary initiatives:
- Represent m2m on research committees and forums.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced post-graduate degree (PhD preferable) in Public Health or related field.
- Minimum 8-10 years’ work experience in a senior position in health-related empirical research.
- Proven track record in applying research methodology in Public Health.
- Experience in leading and managing research projects.
- Strong quantitative analytical skills.
- Experience in mentoring and building capacity of junior staff.
