MEA Projects, a Division of Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer to be responsible for producing and managing detailed 3D models and layout designs for the Mine Cooling and Compressor Division, with a strong focus on plant design and piping systems. This role requires expertise in CAD software, proficiency in relevant piping standards, and experience in overseeing and coordinating modeling activities across multiple resources. The CAD Modeler will also be responsible to plan the modeling workload and engaging additional internal or external resources as needed to meet project demands.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
- Preparation of Mechanical Design and 3D Plant Layouts
- Preparation of Engineering Drawings
- Oversight and Management of Design Modeling Requirements
- Document all design changes, maintain version histories, and ensure records are up-to-date, accessible, and aligned with quality standards
- Utilize advanced CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Plant, Inventor, 2D) to produce and refine complex plant layouts, piping isometrics, and mechanical components
- Adhere to project schedules, manage priorities, and ensure multiple deliverables are met within established timelines.
- Report on modeling progress and flag potential risks to deadlines, making necessary adjustments to meet project demands.
- Balance multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring each project is completed with precision and within specified timeframes.
Your Education Should Be…
- S4 Mechanical Engineering
- Advanced knowledge of CAD and engineering software and its applications
- Intelligent P&ID creation with AutoCad plant 3D
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
- Proficiency with AutoCad plant 3D and Inventor
- Piping layouts and piping isometric drawings.
- Experience in plant design/layout in an industrial environment.
- Experience in interpreting and analysing drawings
- Checking skills with ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion, initiative.
- Knowledge of fabrication, construction and operations.
- Good understanding of mechanical technology.
- Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas.
