Job Description The Junior Environmental Scientist contributes to the development of technical proposals. Develops assigned sections of EIA/ESIA studies, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and Environmental project models as per specific discipline requirement and exports draft and final environmental reports under the supervision of an experienced Engineer/Environmental Scientist/ Environmental Manager.
Technical Excellence:
- Contributes to the development of technical proposals.
- Develops assigned sections of EIA/ESIA studies, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and Environmental project models as per specific discipline requirement and exports draft and final environmental reports under the supervision of an experienced Engineer/Environmental Scientist/ Environmental Manager.
- Assists with the design/report content by applying both design and technical and legislative knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines.
- Under supervision, performs work following the agreed-upon budget and schedule.
- When required, collects, analyses and integrates information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project data sets. Uses computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering/environmental problems and report writing.
- Coordinates with other discipline Engineers/Scientists as applicable for the continuity of the Environmental study process.
- Participates in study evaluation progress and coordination meetings.
- Checks and ensures the quality of the model, survey and study teams for accuracy to reporting requirements.
- Actively seeks information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develops efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Contributes by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.
Client Relationship Management:
- Begins to participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science/Arts or Engineering from an accredited University.
- Registered or qualify to register as candidate Scientist with SACNASP and EAP with EAPASA.
- 3+ years relevant experience.
