Job Purpose
The Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to lead, direct and implement risk management tasks of complex and strategic nature.
Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher);
- A minimum of 3 years middle management level experience within risk management or similar environment;
- A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.
Recommendation
Experience in the design and implementation of risk assessment methodologies.
Key Performance Areas
- Policy and Strategy Development: design and review risk management policies, strategies and implementation plans. Monitor and evaluate progress against those plans;
- Deliver Risk Management Services: Direct, lead and influence risk identification, assessment, prioritisation, and integrate risk management practises into decision-making processes;
- Risk Monitoring and Reporting: Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure timely and accurate risk information is obtained. Accurately capture and maintain risk-related data in the system and generate regular reports on risk exposure, trends and mitigation efforts of Departments being serviced;
- Risk Governance and Compliance: Ensure that the Departments comply with all relevant regulations, industry standards and best practises. Lead risk management governance initiatives including liaising and presenting within reporting structures and committee oversight bodies such as Enterprise Risk Management Committees and Audit Committees;
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and manage risk practitioners, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities. Foster a high-performance team culture that prioritises collaboration and innovation in risk management.
Competencies
Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks and working principles; Skills needed: Communication at an executive management level (verbal and writing); Analytical and problem solving and Strategic planning.
Remuneration
All-inclusive salary package of R 849 702 per annum (Salary level 11)
Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
Notes
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to do practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
