Our client in Somerset Wet is looking for a qualified and experienced Dental Assistant to provide quality dental services. As a vital part of their practice, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care, supporting our dental professionals, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Meet and greet patients in a warm and friendly manner
- Assisting with dental procedures and preparing the patient file in respect of information
- Diary management
- Patient account management / invoicing
- Preparing patients for dental work
- Helping with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, preparing materials, and assisting with dental procedures
- Assisting dentists in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary
- Assisting dental hygienists with procedures when necessary
- Providing great patient care
- Recording treatment information in patient records
- Exposing dental x-rays from dental diagnostics and caring for dental x-ray equipment
- Giving patients information on dental hygiene, oral health care, and plaque control programs
- Providing postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist
- Caring for dental equipment
Education:
- Matric
- Dental Assisting Diploma will be advantageous
- Must be registered with Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Dental Assistant
- Any medical patient software system experience is beneficial
Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 - 3 years' experience as a Dental Assistant
Skills:

- Knowledge of Dental Terminology, Procedures, and Diagnosis
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities
- Attain and maintain a high level of clinical dentistry expertise, with a focus on areas that add value in a dental clinic setting, such as paediatric dentistry, emergency dental treatment, extractions, and dental care prevention
