Our client based in Bloemfontein is looking for a Network Administrator who will be responsible for high-level network planning, design, implementation and optimization, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), Wi-Fi, Internet connections, intranets, VoIP and other data communications systems. The Network Administrator will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of ICT systems investments.
6 month-contract with possibility to go permanent or extend further.
Minimum qualifications and experience required:
- Higher Certificate in IT or related fields (NQF level 5)
- CCNA or equivalent industry certificate
- 8 years’ experience in network design, implementation, and support of large enterprise networks
Ideal qualifications and experience: - Diploma in IT or related fields
- CCNA or equivalent industry certificate
- 10 years’ experience in network design, implementation, and support of large enterprise networks
Statutory requirements: - In-depth knowledge of RADIUS servers
- Intensive experience in designing and maintaining VLANs
- Experience in HP/ Aruba switches will be an added advantage

Network Design and Implementation - Build the networks by taking into consideration numerous factors like, bandwidth requirements, infrastructure requirements and security
- Design the Company’s LANs, WANs, virtual networks, and wireless networks, including, routers, hubs, switches, and other devices.
- Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
- Prepare requirement design document that clearly specifies requirements to suppliers
- Understand the data communication needs and produce the best solutions to meet the requirements
Network Security - Implement secure WIFI infrastructure
- Configuring and implementing intrusion detection systems, next generation firewalls and virtual private networks
- Analyse and report computer network security breaches or attempted breaches
- Protect the network from threats and bugs
Manage network switches and connectivity - Internet fault reporting and link maintenance
- Act as secondary contact with Networks
- Develop and disseminate procedure guidelines for management of all relevant systems
- Provision and management of high bandwidth network
- Manage and provide advice for all new cabling installation projects on all campuses
- Maintain virtual network (VPN)
- Manage and plan maintenance of the campus wide computer network
- Conduct routine inspections of the network and network equipment
- Assist with configuration of LUN’s on SAN systems
- Configure FC SAN switches
Provide Infrastructure Support - Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems
- Support the development, management, and configuration of network operational monitoring tools
- Configure and define parameters for installation or testing of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Access Points (APs), Routers, Switches, Controllers, multiplexers, or related networking equipment. Manage and maintain external and internal IP allocations
- Monitor network performance and integrity
- Maintain complete network infrastructure documentation
- Perform on-going analysis of network and service resilience
- Troubleshoot issues related to the network infrastructure
- Install or repair network cables, including fibre optic cables
- Upgrade the network equipment from time to time
- Manage DHCP accounts on the DHCP servers
- Manage and maintain RADIUS systems
