About NACOSA:
We started as a convention intent on bringing together organisations working on HIV. We now render services and disburse funds towards a coordinated response to HIV, TB and GBV as public health threats. As an organization, we work at national, provincial local and community levels. The duties and responsibilities of the Head of NACOSA Institute will include, but is not limited to:
NACOSA Strategy & Leadership:
- Provide leadership and vision to achieve the Institute’s goals in relation to HIV, AIDS, TB and GBV training and capacity building in accordance with NACOSA’s Collective Actions Strategy: 2023 – 2027.
NACOSA Institute’s Strategy:
- Develop a sustainability strategy and plan for the institute.
- Work with the Executive and Programme Director to develop and deliver our training and capacity building strategy for all programmes and the sectors we work in.
- Implement and drive the NACOSA Institute’s strategy in line with NACOSA’s Collective Actions Strategy: 2023 – 2027.
Staff Management & Leadership:
- Supervise and manage the institute to ensure the efficient and effective completion of Human Resource related tasks and functions including staff development.
- Develop, implement, and adapt oversight systems and protocols for effective performance and risk management within the team.
NACOSA Management & Implementation:
- Lead on the development and delivery of training and capacity building for all stakeholders based on the institute’s goals, including development of curricula, training calendar, etc.
- Identify opportunities to develop partnerships and expand the reach of the programmes.
Operational Management:
- Develop annual operational/work plans for all workstreams.
- Coordinate the development of an annual training plan, including the schedule, projects definition, curriculum and training personnel identification.
Stakeholder Management:
- Champions service excellence and foster strategic relationships with stakeholders. Build and maintain professional relationships with key influencers, funders, technical experts, government departments, healthcare providers and other organisations.
- Create confidence in the organisations governance and financial management structures.
Produce progress reports for NACOSA Institute:
- Develop a system to monitor, evaluate and report quarterly on the activities and outputs expenditure of all institute’s training.
- Work with the Senior Management Team to provide reports to any relevant funders.
Budget Planning:
- Prepare a comprehensive budget and ensure that the institute operates within budget guidelines.
NACOSA Leadership & Human Resources Management for the Institute:
- Supervise and lead institute staff by supporting and enabling them to execute their duties.
- Monitor progress of work against the objectives of the Training and Capacity Building team.
Required qualifications, skills and experience:
- A Master degree in Education, Training & Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in training and development of which 10 years should be in a strategic role.
- A track record in developing and executing successful training and capacity building programmes.
- Experience in NGO Sector and capacity building needs of organisations and different staff cadres.
- Knowledge of various training methodologies, financial prescripts and an ability to develop budgets.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) in 2 official South-African languages, of which one should be English. A South African African language will be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of NSP and delivery of HIV/AIDS & TB programmes and services.
- Experience in development of risk management strategies.
- Knowledge of big donor processes and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook, Management systems.
