Mechanic / Farm Manager (Dulini Plantation)

Dulini Plantation is looking for a suitable candidate with farm management and diesel mechanic experience. Dulini Plantation farms in pine, wattle, and gum, with a cattle combination. We handle planting, harvesting, and transportation to depot.
Farm Manager (Forestry)
Duties will include:
- Management and coordination of the operational activities of the company farm Livestock and forestry operations.
- Livestock and pasture management.
- Farm and forestry equipment and infrastructure development & maintenance.
- Work closely with company management to ensure the harmonised, efficient functioning of the division, as part of the group.
- Effectively manage labour teams and maintain compliance with all company procedures and protocols and compliance with labour law and Occupational Health and safety.
- Management and control of silviculture/harvesting contractors as well as adhoc maintenance contractors.
- Responsible for the discipline of the personnel under their supervision.
- Timber re-establishment that includes:
- TUP management and control
- Compartment burning
- Pitting, Planting, and blanking.
- Manual and chemical Weeding operations.
- Pruning operations.
- Marking and management of compartments for thinning’s.
- Road and farm maintenance.
- Fire protection/fighting/standby – Fire break burning/lookout management/ Local FPA liaison.
- Basic Forestry administration – (compartment management, fuel usage records, timekeeping, herbicide usage)
- APO management and control.
- Budget and Finance management and control.
- Management of all aspects regarding harvesting and fibre supply on the farm to different markets.
- Management and maintaining of operations according to FSC principles.
Requirements:
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experience within an integrated forestry business.
- An excellent communicator at the highest level, with an established, proven track record at senior management level.
- Must be prepared to do standby and fire-fighting duties.
- Candidate must be prepared to reside on the estate.
- Computer/MS Office literate.
Diesel Mechanic
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant qualification or experience in a similar industry.
- Extensive knowledge of forestry fleet, yellow plant, and transport fleet.
- Works well in a team environment and is self-motivated to work independently.
Brief Job Description and Duties:
- Daily breakdown repairs to Bell Loggers and tractors infield.
- Servicing and record keeping of a large fleet of trucks at the workshop.
- Workshop management including issuing and recording of spares.
- Implementation of a comprehensive preventative maintenance programme.
- Coordination and management of mechanic assistants.
Conditions and Requirements:
- Willing to work overtime on occasions and Saturdays for maintenance.
- Capable of working in forestry intense weather conditions.
