In Corporate Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development (RD), we shape the automotive generations of the future. This means innovative products of the highest quality and efficient development processes. We are already working on vehicles that will secure Mercedes-Benz‘ technological leadership in the future. In the MB.OS Architecture department, we design future vehicle generations of Mercedes-Benz Cars in terms of component networking and energy supply, cross-functionally and across vehicle series.
Thesis Topic:
- Dive into the fascinating world of Artificial Intelligence and contribute to revolutionizing the way we interact with development data
- Your task will be to research and develop both proprietary and open-source Generative AI models capable of formulating precise (database) queries from natural language
- Imagine being able to create complex database queries simply through spoken or written words – that is the goal of your thesis, and you will help push the boundaries of GenAI application and contemporary research
The final thesis selection is made in close consultation with you, the university and us.
Tasks:
- Analysis and Selection of Suitable Models: You will investigate a variety of Generative AI models, both proprietary and open-source, to identify the best candidates for our requirements
- Development of Innovative Methods: Your creativity and technical expertise are needed to develop methods that can translate natural language into precise database queries (mainly SQL and/or OQL)
- Implementation and Testing: You will put your developed methods into practice and test their accuracy and efficiency in real-world application scenarios
- Evaluation and Optimization: Through systematic evaluations, you will identify potential improvements and continuously optimize your methods
- Documentation and Presentation: You will comprehensively document your results and present your findings in a compelling thesis
- Studies in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a comparable field
- Knowledge in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI
- Experience with databases (ideally SQL/OQL)
- Programming skills in Python or a comparable language
- Ideally, first experiences with Machine Learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- High motivation and initiative
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Analytical thinking and structured working methods
