Our client based in Cato ridge is looking for a Picking Stock Controller. The Picking and Stock Controller plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate stock levels and ensuring smooth
operations in the picking room. This role involves routine pick location cycle counts, addressing variances
between Syspro, Wamas and physical stock, performing camera checks, and managing charity stock
distribution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stock Control:
Cycle Counts:
- Conduct daily cycle counts on all aisles, twice a day (AM/PM)
- Update Wamas on differences
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies using Wamas and CCTV
- Update SharePoint with daily cycle count results and investigations on pick locations and
replenishment racks
Stock Investigation:
- Collaborate with the Systems stock controller on Syspro vs. Wamas variance reports to reconcile
systems, ensuring 100% accuracy
- Transfer missing stock to WH50 and returns to WH98 if necessary
- Investigate discrepancies and initiate stock adjustments with the Inventory Manager
- Check returns and samples, relocating them to the missing stock or returns warehouse
- Investigate and address stock shortages
- Manage leftover/extra stock in the Airlock
- Daily reconciliation of pallets reflecting in Wamas locations: GOODS IN, NPCS-007, HP, DP, CP.
Charity Stock Allocation:
- Collaborate with SHEQ on quality concerned returns
- Allocate weekly edible damaged stock for charity purposes
- Distribute stock among charities and send the list to HR
- Ensure there is sufficient stock available for invoicing department to capture orders
Picking control duties:
- Ensure the picking room is neat, and all stock is accounted for in their correct locations
- Ensure all prepared stock in the picking room is labelled with container number/ML number and stock
code
- Ensure all stock in WH01 has pick locations assigned, and there are sufficient pick positions available
on the system
- Review picking errors and processes for efficiencies and improvements
- Provide training to new pickers and refresher training for existing pickers
- Ensure mobile stock devices are operational and report any issues to maintenance and the operations
team.
Additional Duties:
- Daily circulation of WAMAS reports detailing all stock in the store.
- Assist with CCTV checks on loading errors and stock investigations.
- Assist with any other ad-hoc duties or reports as assigned by the Inventory Manager.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & TRAITS REQUIRED:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Own reliable transport
- Microsoft office experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with inventory management systems (Syspro, Wamas)
- Attention to detail and accuracy in stock-related activities, data checking and capturing
- Effective communication and collaboration with team members
- Ability to plan and control multiple tasks
- Prior picking and warehousing experience
- Ability to work overtime when needed.
