Job Description
This event company is currently recruiting a Bookkeeper to join their team. This is an in-office permanent position.
Responsibilities
- Full accounting function ability to take over/assist where necessary - not limited to: Suppliers, customers, banking (cheque, credit cards, petty cash), fixed asset register, insurance, payroll.
- Setting up, improving, maintaining effective financial controls and statutory compliance.
- Set up and preparation of monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with statutory submissions e.g., DOL, CIPC, SARS.
- Contribution to the daily functioning of the finance team and its performance.
- Assisting the Financial Executive with ad-hoc assignments.
- Identify areas to streamline current processes to improve efficiency & implementation thereof.
Requirements
- Accounting degree or equivalent with minimum 5 years' relevant experience.
- Confident and independent individual who is a fast learner.
- Team player.
- Ability to use own initiative and work with minimum supervision.
- Able to work flexible working hours (overtime when/if needed).
- Able to work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines.
- A strong entrepreneurial ability.
- An ability to think logically.
- Be accurate in execution of duties.
- Be highly computer literate - Accounting packages, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Be committed to continuous learning and staying updated (e.g. industry, statutory requirements).
