Concor Construction - Engineer Position
Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of an Engineer to join our projects within Southern Africa. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the execution of engineering/construction works, interpretation of drawings and specifications for such works, including planning and programming of work/activities on site, as well as Quality and SHE. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates.
Duties & Responsibilities
Successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Responsible for a section or portion of a project as well as responsible for the overall planning, quality, programme, costing and health and safety performance of the area of responsibility within the allowable for that section.
- Uses and develops engineering skills to achieve the above with a solutions driven approach.
- Demonstrates active support for the Company’s core values, statement of business principles and code of conduct.
- Maintain constructive and cooperative relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure that disputes are speedily and constructively tackled and resolved when they occur.
- Provide support to company and site initiatives.
- Interact with relevant stakeholders to obtain programme updates.
- Ensure that relevant site staff is clear about what is required from them.
- Individual performance is reviewed and corrective action taken where necessary.
- Ensures team under supervision have the necessary skills and competencies required to perform to standard.
- Inspire team members to achieve high levels of production.
- Visibly supports the Stop.Think.Act.24/7 campaign and other HSE initiatives and objectives.
- Comply with all health and safety, company policies, procedures and standards.
- Ensures safe work practices are adhered to at all times.
- Monitors and measures safety practices and results and meets targets set.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications
- Must be registered as a candidate with SACPCMP or ECSA.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Engineer within the building industry .
- Must have a valid driver’s licence.
- Must be a South African Citizen.
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word & Outlook).
- Ability to think methodically and to manage large sections of a project.
- Ability to read, understand and organize construction Plans and Specifications.
- Ability to raise and track RFI’s and maintain an RFI schedule.
- Ability to co-ordinate tenant installation and subcontractors to meet BO dates.
- A good understanding of building materials .
- Must have a working knowledge of CCS estimating and planning modules.
- Working knowledge of the OHS Act , and Construction Regulations .
- Good working knowledge of various conditions of contract specifications (e.g. FIDIC, GCC, NEC & JBCC).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good understanding of structures .
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of the team, while exercising own judgment.
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines.
