Introduction
The Marketing Officer makes a key contribution to a highly motivated and vibrant team, supporting the development and implementation of an effective Brand Communications Strategy. The role requires exceptional creative acumen, research ability, project management competence, excellent all-round communication skills, the flexibility to tackle any number of communication and project outputs, and the kind of positive attitude which supports change and delivers meaningful results.
Responsibilities
- Support the Marketing & Communications Manager in developing and implementing a marketing, advertising and loading strategy which promotes the NEF’s image, reputation and visibility amongst local, national and international stakeholders
- Develop and manage marketing plans and applicable budgets
- Develop, implement and monitor marketing campaigns (above-the-line, below-the-line and online)
- Prepare detailed advertising briefs and provide solutions to meet specific communication objectives
- Liaise with agencies and service-providers and co-ordinate their outputs
- Ensure quality-control, effective and timeous delivery of all production outputs
- Review and secure approval on all communication material
- Commission and manage research, including Brand Audit and Focus Group Research and translate research results into appropriate marketing actions
- Monitor competitor environment as well as market activities/trends and translate into appropriate actions
- Initiate and organise events and exhibitions to promote Brand NEF
- Protect and support the NEF’s brand image by offering advice and direction on the appropriate use of brand and product identity for print and other media
- Commission, brief, place and monitor creative designs and marketing collateral
- Coordinate internal and external marketing events and promotional campaigns
- Support Human Resources in planning, defining and implementing an effective Corporate Culture programme, including Change Management support
- Support the Internal Communications and Public Relations activities of the organisation
- Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including Contact Reports of operational meetings
- Advise the Marketing and Communications Manager of relevant risks and opportunities
Qualification Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Brand Management, Advertising, Media or Communications Science
Experience / Skills Required
- At least 3 years’ experience in a marketing, media or communications environment
- Experience in and knowledge of creative and design applications
- Understanding and knowledge of market research
- Understanding of advertising production and media buying
- Knowledge of the media and understanding of audience behaviour
- Knowledge of exhibition and outdoor marketing
- Ability to convey complex messages clearly and through written and verbal communication
- Ability to influence and educate as well as direct other staff on communication issues
- Ability to negotiate effectively to extract the best terms for the NEF
- Demonstrate a good understanding of reputation management and pro-active approach to reputational risk
- Flexibility and willingness to work as part of a team, maintaining good working relationships with staff at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A willingness to travel and to work extra hours, including on weekends
- Ability to identify reputational risk and accelerate recovery plans
