This Opportunity
The Junior Accountant will play a supportive role in the financial team, focusing on assisting with the preparation, analysis, and reporting financial data. This role will provide exposure to various accounting tasks and help in meeting corporate reporting requirements. Here is what you would be doing as our Management Accountant:
- Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely management accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to help management understand the company's financial status.
- Support in the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements for each entity of the company to ensure all financial reporting is standardized and accurate.
- Assist in analyzing financial information to identify trends and support budget forecasting processes and recommend improvements.
- Help with the preparation of statutory books and coordinate with local auditors to ensure accurate and timely records for statutory audits, including responding to audit queries.
- Ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations in all jurisdictions the company operates.
- Assist in maintaining internal controls to support the company’s financial integrity.
- Support the preparation of the monthly/quarterly and annual tax returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.)
- Liaise with the tax compliance third party and the ministry of finance/tax authorities on related matters.
- Potentially assist with the basic payroll preparation, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations.
A Little Bit About You
- You are working toward a professional accounting certification, with completion preferred but not required (e.g., AGA, CA(SA), SAIPA, CIMA advantageous).
- You have some experience or internships in accounting or finance, ideally with exposure to management accounting or global organizations, although this isn’t required.
- You have basic knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- You are comfortable with QuickBooks and MS Office, particularly Excel, and eager to further develop your technical skills.
- You are known for your strong attention to detail and basic analytical skills and have a natural aptitude for numbers.
- You communicate financial information clearly, including to non-financial personnel, and are open to developing this skill further.
- You are organized and able to handle multiple tasks under supervision to meet deadlines.
- You are a team player with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
- Basic understanding of accounting and statutory regulations.
- Willingness to work on projects involving international clients and an openness to managing time zone differences as needed.
