Centane Area – Eastern Cape: Our client is looking for a Finance Manager – Agriculture to join the team.
The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing most of the financial aspects of the company and ensuring the flow of accurate and timeous financial data to the executives. Key responsibilities include ensuring the accuracy, validity and completeness of management and financial accounting, analysis, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring that all accounting, and regulatory requirements and deadlines are met, and all records are maintained. The incumbent must be a strategic thinker with a focused approach, who is able to travel between Eastern Cape and Gauteng.
Duration: 24 months contract
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- BCOM Accounting
- CIMA qualifications advantageous
- At least 3-4 years’ experience in the Agriculture industry
- At least 2-3 years managerial experience
- Knowledge of agricultural finance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Strategic management
- Assist with the preparation, drafting and implementation of the strategic plans for the Agricultural division, by providing relevant financial information.
- Lead the development of effective financial policies, procedures, and guidelines for the Agricultural operations.
- Formulate and implement the required financial controls.
- Prepare and present long-range profit forecasts and budgets.
- Ensure procedure manuals are adequately prepared and maintained regularly, at the required standard.
- Cashflow management
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly/annual cash flow planning and ensure that the organisation always has the necessary cash flow required.
- Ensure funds available for payments and excess cash is transferred to high interest earning account timeously.
- Financial reporting
- Prepare financial reports including financial statements, strategic plans, budgets and financial forecasts.
- Prepare monthly & quarterly reports on the Agricultural division.
- Ensure the mapping of the chart of accounts on various systems is accurate to ensure reliability of data is not compromised across systems.
- Ensure the completeness of transactions and correct allocation to the ledger, reconciliations are completed, reviewed and signed off timeously.
- Ensure that monthly consolidated management accounts are completed accurately and timeously.
- Analyse cost structure to identify cost reduction opportunities. Implement and report on cost reduction initiatives as deemed necessary.
- Prepare, submit and provide reasons for any unusual or unexpected expenses.
- Co-ordinate and consolidate variance reporting to budget on a monthly basis.
- Tax
- Computation and submission of provisional and income tax returns, and VAT returns.
- Attend to all tax queries and audits.
- Audits
- Liaise with auditors with regards to information requests.
- Liaise and furnish auditors with all relevant information for audit reporting.
- People Management
- Set Key Performance indicators and outcomes of employees and processes within the department.
- Conducting appraisals to measure performance against agreed objectives, counselling and consulting with personnel.
- Coach and mentor subordinates.
- Ensure the team is fully equipped and receives adequate training.
