Financial Manager Job Description
The Financial Manager's responsibility is to effectively manage financial staff nationally and facilitate the compilation of accurate and reliable management accounts. Ultimately, the purpose of the position is to manage the company’s financial health through cash flow monitoring and the effective management of profitability variables – Costs, Price, Volumes, and Product Mix Shifts.
Duties & Responsibilities
FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION
- Check all bank accounts are balanced daily.
- Petty cash capturing of payments monthly.
- Cash flow planning daily and updating actual.
- Calculate and process month-end journals for interest income and interest paid.
- Capturing of credit card accounts.
- Calculating Agent’s commission on sales and making the payments.
- Processing Journals for Samples and damaged stock for the month.
- Depreciate assets monthly. Manage all insurance claims/queries, obtain approval, and make all payments required for ACS nationally.
- Maintain Fixed assets for ACS and manage rental agreements, payments & updates.
- Year-end to be completed by 15 March for submission to auditors.
- Assist with annual audit.
DEBTORS
- Manage bank capturing of receipts daily and petty cash receipts monthly.
- Manage allocation of receipts to debtor accounts.
- Manage collection of debts outstanding.
- Manage export procedures.
CREDITORS
- Manage converting of purchase orders into supplier invoices.
- Manage the capturing of direct expenses and reconcile creditors.
- Submit payment list of creditors and make the payments when approved.
- Manage purchase orders on SmartEdge; any PO for next month needs to be re-dated or deleted if not used.
- Manage foreign creditors’ accounts and freight invoices – capturing & payment.
PAYROLL
- Management of the payroll.
- Checking of payroll before approval.
- Loading of all payments (salary related).
LEGISLATION ADMINISTRATION
- Compile VAT return monthly filed on e-filing.
- VAT reviews or audits.
- EMP201 submissions monthly filed on e-filing and paid.
- EMP501 – arrange submission & IRP5 to staff.
- Workmen’s compensation submissions (June yearly).
- STATS SA submissions.
- EEA/BBEEE submissions.
FIXED ASSETS OVER R8000
- Open new fixed assets.
- Enter new assets.
- Depreciation.
- Dispose of assets if and when required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Specialist Requirements
- Compiling and interpreting Management Accounts.
- Computerized accounting – 5 years experience.
- System-driven, creating and maintaining.
- Strong technical skills – Comfortable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Self-motivation & ambition.
- Good leadership skills.
- Time management & prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
