Duties & Responsibilities
ENVIRONMENT:
A forward-thinking company revolutionizing the payment industry by simplifying card acceptance for independent retailers is presently in search of a Financial Manager. This pivotal role within the finance team involves overseeing all financial operations of the business. Proficiency in IFRS and possessing a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting are required qualifications, while membership in an accounting body such as SAIPA, CA(SA), or PFA would be advantageous.
DUTIES:
- Month end processes and reconciliations
- Maintenance and updating of the reconciliation files
- Processing of month end journals
- Ensuring relevant reconciliations are balanced
- Balancing of inter-company loan accounts and suspense account
- Reviewing correct processing of all ISA’s
- Adjusting month end accruals
- Processing monthly revenue and cost of sales journals
- Overseeing entire month end process
- Overseeing monthly billing processes to ensure invoices are raised to clients based on the billing information received from the business units and through their established billing procedures.
- Management of the accounting system (e.g. creating new products and charts).
- Overseeing monthly debit order collections process (both regular and ad hoc debit orders).
- Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly working capital management.
- Assess funding requirements: Ensure proper measures are in place to meet working capital needs and future funding needs for growth – i.e. ensure a strong balance sheet; Manage loan guarantees and facilities.
- Monthly VAT reconciliations and SARS e-filing submissions
- Tax and regulatory compliance calculations and submissions.
- Review and responsibility over Fixed Asset Register, ensuring this is appropriately maintained in line with business’s requirements.
- Continuously look to improve and enhance financial and relevant business processes for optimal efficiency and productivity.
- Annual Audit (Internal & External).
- Assisting with audit preparation and in assisting auditors along with the rest of the finance team in order to meet set deadlines for external audit.
- Provide support in ongoing internal control and risk management.
- Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements.
- Driver of cost efficiencies within the finance team and across the business.
- Ensuring that meticulous financial documents, records and files are maintained in line with statutory requirements.
- Continuously and consistently monitoring to ensure that all financial records, including revenue, expenditure, assets, liabilities, equities and cash flows are accurate, up to date and processed efficiently effectively and in a timely manner.
- Promote awareness of cost and control throughout the business.
- Implementation of financial and payroll policies and ensure all statutory requirements are fulfilled (returns compiled) and those third-party payments made.
- Setting up reporting structures, considering corporate governance and financial hygiene.
- Management of cash flow: Oversee to ensure debtors payments are collected in terms of SLA and credit terms adhered to, ensuring invoices sent timeously and correct charges reflected.
- Building relationships.
- Oversee banking: Overdraft limits adhered to, sufficient funds to pay creditors and invest monies accordingly.
- Onboard of new regions: Acquire customer base from merger and acquisition of new business and ensure smooth take on of the client (Fee modelling, invoice requirements) and inducting new accounting staff into the process.
- Management: Allocate work to finance team and ensure proper segregation of duties, monitor and measure performance. Liaise with team leaders directly in terms of quality standards. Conduct performance planning sessions (KPA’s).
- Monitor the functioning of the department and continuously provide feedback, coaching and training.
- Continuously monitoring existing and reviewing new reporting principles to ensure they align with IFRS.
- Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers.
- Various other responsibilities incumbent on this role.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of IFRS
Qualifications and Experience:
- Member of an accounting body (SAIPA/CA(SA)/PFA)
- Minimum of 3 years in similar role
- Tax and treasury experience beneficial
