Project Manager Position
We are recruiting for a Project Manager to join our dynamic team. The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating projects according to predetermined timelines and budgets. The incumbent will be required to assist in designing and implementing IT and electronic systems in the aviation industry.
Duties & Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Manage project development from initiation to closure.
- Be accountable for project results along with project sponsor.
- Work with project sponsor and stakeholders to complete project charter outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget and timing.
- Complete work breakdown structure to estimate effort required for each task.
- Provide a project schedule to identify when each task will be performed.
- Clearly communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders.
- Act as a mediator between stakeholders and team members.
- Carry out site surveys.
- Solve services co-ordination problems.
- Ensure good engineering quality control.
- Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout project life cycle.
- Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved with project change requests.
- Manage external consultants or contractors required to complete project.
- Liaise with CAD draughtsman for updates on drawings and ensure correct drawings are issued.
- Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports to sponsor.
- Lead, coach, and motivate project team members on a proactive basis.
- Develop tools and best practices for project management and execution.
- Ensure all project documents are safely archived following project completion.
- Other duties requested by management in support of the business.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Technical qualification (B Eng / B Tech / T5 + or equivalent) and experience (5 years +) required.
- PMI Certification is a major asset.
- CAD experience will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with project management tools and/or software packages.
- Demonstrated leadership managing people.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Strategic, operational, technical & management skills.
- Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Forge relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Willing and able to take the initiative and solve services co-ordination problems.
- Driver’s license.
- Job holder may occasionally be required to do site visits, which might not be close to home, for several days at a time.
- Johannesburg based position.
- Own transport essential.
