AME Cloud, Compute & Storage Lead - Remote (Occasional Travel to Mines)

As a Cloud Engineering Lead, the function of the role is to lead the provision and support of cloud, compute and storage services and related project management services in the region. This role ensures the uptime, performance, and capacity of AME cloud, compute and storage platforms, and data centers, providing technical leadership to regional and site IT resources. The ideal candidate will possess an excellent mix of technical, IT operations, and project management capabilities, coupled with strong people and stakeholder management skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a proactive, reliable, and trusted business partner to the mine.
- Provide technical leadership of the compute & storage IT function in the region.
- Lead the implementation of Cloud, Compute & Storage, and related services in the region.
- Manage and develop the regional site IT team specialists and resources.
- Manage related services according to business/service level expectations.
- Accountable for incident resolution and service support.
- Responsible for any user-related incident or service request escalation.
- Ensure expected performance, capacity, and availability of mine site infrastructure.
- Support implementations of solutions to meet mine site needs.
- Anticipate performance requirements by proactively initiating IT evolutions.
- Support standardization and consolidation projects to improve infrastructure operations efficiency.
- Identify, support, and drive IT innovations, standards, and best practice IT solutions.
- Manage external service provider relationships.
- Continuously assess technologies for cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain a security-centric mindset for all related technologies.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering and/or equivalent work experience.
- 5-10 years of IT experience in mining or similar industry.
- Experience with hardware such as Cisco UCS, Dell.
- People management and team development skills.
- Project management skills (PMP, Prince2 or similar).
- Budget and financial acumen.
- Strong sense of urgency, adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
