Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accounts up to the trial balance stage, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial records. The ideal candidate will also assist with financial reporting and audits, ensuring that all accounting tasks are completed within set deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accounting records up to trial balance, ensuring accurate recording of day-to-day financial transactions.
- Prepare monthly supporting schedules to the trial balance, including loan registers and reconciliations for banks, loans, and tax.
- Process month-end and year-end journals and assist with annual financial audits as required.
- Review petty cash and credit card reconciliations, posting transactions on the ERP system.
- Manage financial obligations with lenders under finance documents.
- Prepare consolidated and separate annual financial statements.
- Prepare quarterly management accounts and required documentation for individual companies.
- Load payments on the banking system and manage cash flows.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, including IFRS and tax regulations.
Key Skills: - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage X3 experience is a plus).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with accounting systems like CaseWare and ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and tax regulations.
- Previous experience with trusts and financial audits is an advantage.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting (B. Com/ B. Compt or similar).
- Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles (advantageous).
