About the role:
The Sales Leader is a senior seasoned sales professional, who will lead sales and distribution operations and is ready to expand the company's massive sales network across South Africa; comprising of all our areas located in that region. This is a leadership position that takes full strategic and tactical responsibility for all business functions of the direct sales business - as well as growing sales aggressively across the zone and overseeing sales operations.

We design, distribute, and finance the purchase of solar powered home energy solutions for the world’s 1.3 billion under-electrified consumers. We are market leaders in the distributed off-grid solar industry, and our products have enabled 76 million people around the world to access clean, reliable, solar powered light and energy at home.
Our products range from portable solar lamps to more robust multi-light solar home systems, to solar powered televisions and fans and energy efficient inverter bulbs. Our products drastically improve quality of life for those that lack reliable electricity access: they help extend the number of productive, income generating hours in a day; they enable children to study after dark; they allow families and communities to gather safely to socialize after sunset; and when replacing field-based sources of light like kerosene lamps, they reduce exposure to indoor air pollution.
We reach our customers through two distinct business models: a vast network of more than 300 distribution partners across 40 countries, and through our EasyBuy Direct sales channel, where we sell directly to consumers in India, Kenya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia through a network of more than 7,000 commission sales agents. Our customers have the option to purchase these products up front or to pay for them through an instalment payment plan over a period of 4-18 months through our EasyBuy line, our technology enabled ‘pay-as-you-go’ (PAYG) systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Delivering agreed weighted units targets at all levels with daily tracking of sales
- Providing support to direct reports through strong leadership and mentorship with emphasis on robust sales structure
- Supervising marketing activities in the location to drive sales growth, ensuring AHQs conduct evening demos, trade shows, etc.
- Proper management of collection default rates
- Ensuring profitability of all regions/areas within the country and expanding to new regions and areas
- Ensure recruitment and retention of all sales teams through proper training, management, and performance review
- Coach and mentor all direct reports on daily, weekly, and monthly tasks
- Ensure that all teams have the required tools and materials for trade execution
- Counter competitor activities with effective responses to avoid loss of market share
- Ensure visibility in the trade is high and as per agreed picture of success at all outlets
- Ensure that all costs and expenses are kept within acceptable levels and within budget
- Provide all required reports for business decisions for your zone
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Has a degree in a business-related field or equivalent
- At least 7 years hands-on experience in sales with at least 5 in the solar industry
- Technical expertise in solar installations is a desired advantage
- 90% territorial sales experience of areas/states in South Africa
- Must reside in Johannesburg or be willing to relocate (at personal cost)
- Excellent computer knowledge with comprehensive knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
- High innovative skills, thinking outside the box, testing opinions, cost conscious
- Excellent skills in planning, organizing, prioritizing, maximizing value, and seeing the big picture
- Able to develop trust, skillfully build relations, and work on internal & external relationships
- Listens well, coaches others, and is disciplined in their learning practice
- Operational excellence and strong business acumen
