The Applications Architect takes care of the following in detail:
Technology Strategy & Innovations:
- Develop and execute Enterprise Architecture strategies aligned with company goals.
- Create and implement frameworks, policies, and processes for Applications Architecture.
- Deliver budget-conscious road maps and evaluate the application landscape to align with business goals.
- Drive ICT transformation through market analysis and the adoption of best practices, including AI and machine learning.
- Innovate and propose solutions to meet business needs and position the company as an industry leader.
Planning and Organisation:
- Collaborate with business units to define and implement application requirements.
- Develop infrastructure investment plans focused on cost efficiency and performance measurement.
- Recommend and evaluate new software applications for design and technical fit.
Execution of Analysis and Design:
- Assess and design resilient application architectures with integrated risk management.
- Support teams throughout project lifecycles to refine designs.
Technical Implementation:
- Demonstrate and refine application prototypes based on user feedback.
- Manage integration, maintenance, and upgrades while ensuring uniform design standards across the enterprise.
Risk Management:
- Analyze and mitigate risks to applications and systems.
- Ensure compliance with software security principles, data privacy regulations, and maintain audit standards.
Reporting:
- Provide regular status reports and develop business cases for alternative solutions.
- Facilitate communication across Business Units and manage change.
Vendor Management:
- Collaborate with vendors on new features and manage their performance.
- Ensure governance through SLAs and contracts for IT resources.
Stakeholder and Customer Management:
- Coordinate with stakeholders and architecture teams to meet application needs.
- Engage with various teams to provide technical guidance and enhance stakeholder relations.
Financial Management:
- Contribute to the development of operating and capital expenditure budgets.
- Involve in technical quotes, analyses, and specifications to ensure accuracy and mitigate risks.
- Oversee budget management, ensuring compliance with the financial guidelines and standards of the projects/programmes.
Leadership and People Management:
- Optimize the department's resources to enhance organizational productivity and outcomes.
- Provide subject matter expertise to resolve critical support issues quickly and effectively.
- Manage headcount monthly according to SBV principles and policies, coordinating with HR on team changes, new business, and initiatives.
- Oversee recruitment, performance management, training, career development, succession planning, and HR processes for the team.
- Lead the end-to-end performance management process, motivating and supporting the team to meet key objectives.
- Manage the Talent Management Process to maximize the value of high-performing employees.
- Ensure compliance with SBV HR policies, employee relations procedures, and labor laws.
- Drive employee training and development in collaboration with the Training Academy.
- Conduct disciplinary hearings in line with labor law and SBV policies.
Lead as a Change Ambassador:
- Act as a change management architect, ensuring continuity during transitions.
- Oversee the seamless integration of development into the customer experience.
- Effectively communicate and implement new processes, addressing or escalating concerns as needed.
- Maintain clear and accurate communication within the team through presentations, workshops, or forums.
Cultivate Organizational Culture:
- Inspire confidence and enthusiasm, fostering commitment to the department's values.
- Support transformation and BBB-EE initiatives for alignment with the company's goals.
- Lead the team in creating a positive, high-morale, and winning organizational culture.
The Successful Applicant
Minimum requirements for the Applications Architect:
- 7 years of architecture experience in application design, development, and build.
- Extensive experience in aligning application development with business objectives.
- Proven track record in solutions architecture across diverse technologies and business domains.
- Knowledgeable in industry-standard architecture frameworks.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
- Certification in relevant Enterprise Architecture or technology frameworks and methodologies (preferred).
- Cloud certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP (preferred).
