Job & Company Description: As a Senior Database Administrator you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organisations critical database systems. They will be responsible for architecting, implementing and optimising high performance database solutions working with cutting edge technologies to ensure the reliability, security and scalability of our data infrastructure. The key responsibilities for this role will include: Lead the management and optimization of multiple Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance Design, implement, and maintain automated backup, rollback, and disaster recovery protocols to safeguard data integrity Collaborate with development teams to oversee data model changes, including DDL scripting strategies, performance analysis, and impact assessments Conduct in-depth performance tuning, addressing indexing, query optimization, and deadlock resolution Define and enforce SQL and server security policies, including firewall, VPN management, and secure password protocols Manage Active Directory Services (ADS) for domain control, user and group policies, and ensure compliance with IT security and industry standards Use advanced diagnostic tools (e.g., Process Explorer, Wireshark) to proactively troubleshoot and resolve performance issues As you will be required to hit the ground running extensive experience is essential. The requirements: Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience) Relevant certifications (e.g., MCDBA, MCSE) preferred Experience: 5 years of experience managing Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server environments Expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, backup, recovery, and security best practices Proficiency in Windows Server (2008-2016), Active Directory, and data protection protocols Strong skills in T-SQL, DDL scripting, and database replication Familiarity with diagnostic tools (e.g., Process Explorer, Wireshark) Skills Required: Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork Strong organizational and time management skills.
