Finance Manager Job Description
As Finance Managers, you will be responsible for advising the company and organization on how to increase profit through prudent financial practices and monitoring and enforcing compliance with finance-related laws, procedures, and regulations such as tax filing and financial reporting.
Key Performance Indicators
- Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analysing industry trends, and assessing the financial health of the company.
- Oversee the operations and development of the company’s finance departments including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training, and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.
- Prepare quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards, and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Supervise the documentation of the company’s financial status and forecasts.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Non-Negotiable) Average 65% and higher on Maths.
- Preferred Honours Degree holders / Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business studies, or a related field (e.g., B.Com with Honours and completed articles). Preference will be given to applicants who qualified before or during 2012.
- Qualified as CA (SA) (Non-Negotiable).
- Professional registration with SAICA is a non-negotiable requirement.
- Minimum 3 years appropriate management experience in a Manufacturing or operations environment (not in Financial institutions).
- Demonstrates understanding of all facets of business operations and interactions, a sound working knowledge of financial management, numeracy, and attention to detail.
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
- Strong understanding and application of SA income tax, VAT, and other tax legislation.
- High level computer literacy (including MS Office / Excel).
- Working experience in a financial environment; knowledge of online computer applications (JDE).
- Demonstrates ability to prioritise and plan work, handle a diversity of tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines consistently, manage projects, and cope under pressure.
- Experience collaborating and/or managing a team of Accountants and Junior Accountants is ideal.
- Demonstrates commitment to teamwork, service, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Decisive and assertive with the capability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Sound working knowledge of accounting practices coupled with the ability to write advanced macros and produce high-level spreadsheets and financial modelling.
