Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Factory Floor Manager to oversee the daily operations of our production floor. It is not necessary to have socks-specific knowledge - all necessary technical skills will be taught.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to ensure smooth and efficient production in a fast-paced environment. This role involves managing staff, monitoring workflows, and optimising productivity while ensuring full compliance with safety and quality control standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day factory operations and work closely with the Production Manager, ensuring production targets are met efficiently and within deadlines.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of production staff, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Monitor production schedules, ensuring proper workflow and timely completion of products.
- Enforce safety regulations and ensure that all workers are trained in and follow safety protocols.
- Identify and resolve production issues and bottlenecks to maintain a smooth and efficient operation.
- Ensure strict adherence to all quality control protocols, guaranteeing products consistently meet company standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., supply chain, quality control, maintenance) to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Motivate and mentor staff, providing guidance and fostering a positive, productive work environment.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to support uninterrupted production.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Collaborate with HR/Operations to recruit, interview, and select candidates for open positions. Facilitate a comprehensive onboarding program for new hires to help them integrate smoothly.
- Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, address performance issues, and develop improvement plans where necessary. Recognize high performers and encourage growth opportunities.
- Conflict Resolution: Act as a first point of contact for any employee concerns or conflicts on the floor, working closely with HR/Operations to resolve issues fairly and in line with company policy.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Factory Floor Manager, Production Supervisor, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, production management, and workflow optimization.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and the ability to enforce them consistently.
- Strong focus on quality control with the ability to ensure compliance with all protocols.
- Proficient in various production management software and tools, with strong computer skills to analyze data effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address production challenges effectively.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
