Job Title: Underwriting Assistant
Reports to: Risk Director
Salary: R30k - R40k/month (Suitability dependent)
Location: Hybrid, Cape Town
About Us
Our client is a fast-growing fintech lending company based in the UK. They specialize in legal cases.
Minimum Requirements:
- University Graduate (Degree related to Law, Finance, Business or Accounting)
- Minimum of 2 years in complex lending, financial services or legal sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak to solicitors at large law firms and the ability to present to senior management.
- Ability to manage a large number of cases
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the collation of applications for funding and compiling supporting documentation for review by the underwriting team.
- Undertaking initial due diligence on complex financial matters and prospective borrowers.
- Compiling schedules of assets.
- Communicating with solicitors and prospective borrowers both over email and on the telephone, to ensure receipt of all information required for underwriting.
- Ensuring the companys compliance policies e.g. AML & data protection etc are adhered to in line with FCA regulations
- Updating senior members of the team on a regular basis on the status of applications across a large number of cases in the application workflow.
- Keeping borrowers and solicitors updated about the status of applications
- Preparing loan documentation
- Collating executed documentation
