We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Complementary Technologies to lead our Complementary Brands technology efforts within the division. This role will be pivotal in driving digital transformation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience through the Shoprite IT landscape.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Complementary Brand Solutions, both in the context of retail and broader technology trends, and will be instrumental in defining the strategy, governance, and roadmap for our landscape.
Responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic delivery and operational support of the Complementary Brand Technology systems and solutions. This role will ensure that the business is empowered with robust, efficient, and scalable & evolving technologies that drive business value and improve process efficiencies. The Head of Complementary Brands & Technologies will lead a multidisciplinary team focused on both SAP and non-SAP technologies, delivering a seamless integration of technology solutions and skills to support the business objectives of Complementary Brands within the division.
Responsibilities
- Drive and manage delivery managers responsible for Complementary Brand Technologies and provide strategic direction for technology solutions across these business units, aligning technology roadmaps with the broader business strategy.
- Drive and optimise the effective operational support of all Complementary Brand Technologies with the objective to minimise disruptions and system performance.
- Drive the resolutions of system issues leveraging off cross-functional collaboration to drive effective solutions and ensure the smooth operation of our Complementary Brand Technologies.
- Liaise with stakeholders and leadership teams to ensure a strong alignment and to promote transparency and mutual understanding of objectives.
- Optimise the financial management of Technology projects and resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and technology partners to ensure optimal performance and alignment with contract terms by negotiating contracts, evaluate service quality, and ensure vendors contribute effectively to the department’s objectives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, automation, and analytics to enhance Supply Chain processes to drive initiatives focused on improving business operations.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with Technology systems in the Supply Chain, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies and lead efforts to protect sensitive employee and financial data through effective security and data governance practices.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of Technology initiatives across Business Technology domains by providing regular reports to senior management on project status, operational performance, and future opportunities for technology enhancements.
All the Essentials:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field
- +7 years related experience in Technology implementations and support coupled with a strong background in SAP.
- + 5 years in a leadership role within the retail industry
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale technology projects and initiatives
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and tools (JIRA, MS Project, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
- Solid understanding of retail operations and customer experience dynamics
- Experience with budget management and resource allocation
- The ability to build an innovative culture within the team
