The Design Engineer Level 1 works as a team to design, develop, prototype, verify, and support electro-mechanical products and systems. This role includes creating design documentation, test and qualification procedures, jigs, and calibration systems, all tailored to meet the requirements specified by clients, projects, and stakeholders.
KEY TASKS
- Take part in all stages of the product’s lifecycle, from conceptualisation and Business Development support to production and after-sale support.
- Support the engineering team in all day-to-day activities (including, but not limited to the below).
- Design, prototype, and develop electronics and/or mechanics and/or embedded firmware and/or FPGA based solutions.
- Simulate, test, and qualify designs at various levels, ensuring that a product meets its requirements with adequate design margins and will perform reliably and consistently in specified operational environments.
- Produce and submit deliverables for technical reviews and baselining; participate in technical reviews, as required by the project review process and client requirements.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines and project managers within an integrated, cross-functional team environment.
- Monitor and report on the status of projects’ deliverables to the Project Manager.
- Ensure the practice of and compliance with the organisation’s engineering standards and Business Management System processes.
- Write and compile technical control and procedural documents, including product production documentation in collaboration with production.
- Develop and maintain assembly, integration and verification plans, test procedures and test environments in support of and collaboration with product testing.
- Ensure the practice of and compliance with Configuration Control processes and procedures, for all engineering’s Configurable Items (CIs).
- Provide technical support for procurement, manufacturing, product testing and operations as required.
- Provide positive contribution to company team knowledge and team spirit.
- Other ad-hoc duties as required by company.
PREREQUISITES
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
• B.Sc/B.Eng degree in Electronic/Mechatronics or Mechanical engineering from a recognized institution – (preferable M.Eng)
