Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day logistics activities to maximise the efficiency, reliability and cost effectiveness of the organization’s supply chain.
- Direct the movement, storage and processing of inventory to ensure a cost-effective flow of activities.
- Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet customer needs.
- Manage direct materials and equipment planning (lugs, dollies etc.).
- Manage and maintain inventory control program of product in storage warehouses.
- Manage relationships and negotiate transport rates with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Liaise with functional and operations area managers to ensure supply activities are integrated with other parts of the business.
- Lead, direct, evaluate and develop warehouse colleagues to ensure resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met.
- Maintain metrics and analyse data to assess performance and implement improvements to optimize warehouse functions.
- Actively involved in data capturing and audit programs, physical inventory, cycle counting, delivery and non-conformance material flow process.
- Drive supply chain initiatives between sales and operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Logistics Manager in the food and beverage manufacturing industry.
- Grade 12 (NQF 4) or equivalent.
- A National Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Operations / Logistics / Business or related field.
- At least 4 years in supply chain management.
- At least 4 years’ experience managing a team.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a FMCG industry.
- Good, proven knowledge in Food Safety (FSSC 22000 / ISO 22000 / IBL Standards).
