THE QUALITY CONTROL OFFICER:
The position is responsible for ensuring that construction projects meet the company’s quality standards and comply with contractual and regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting inspections, testing materials, and monitoring construction processes to ensure the highest standards of workmanship. The Quality Control Officer identifies defects or deviations from specifications, works with site managers and engineers to implement corrective actions, and maintains detailed records of quality assurance activities. The goal is to ensure that the final construction product is of superior quality, safe, and durable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect construction materials, processes, and finished work to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Conduct tests on materials (e.g., concrete, steel) to verify their quality and durability.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure they align with quality assurance plans and contractual obligations.
- Identify and document any defects or non-conformities in the construction process.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain records of inspections, test results, and quality control reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and relevant quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Provide quality assurance training to construction teams and contractors as needed.
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certification in Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is an advantage.
- Knowledge of construction materials and industry standards.
- Understanding of quality control processes in the construction sector.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
- Experience in material testing (e.g., concrete, steel) and interpreting technical specifications.
- Familiarity with quality standards (ISO 9001 or similar) and construction safety regulations.
- Proven ability to manage inspection processes, document findings, and recommend improvements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects or deviations in construction work.
- Experience working with engineers, architects, and contractors to maintain quality standards.
